Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Tax Staff Accountant to join our growing team. The ideal candidate has prior public accounting experience, enjoys building client relationships, and is committed to producing high-quality work.
In this role, you will prepare a variety of tax returns, assist with tax planning projects, research technical tax issues, perform light bookkeeping duties, and work alongside experienced CPAs to help clients achieve their financial goals.
Responsibilities
- Prepare federal and state individual, partnership, S corporation, C corporation, fiduciary, and nonprofit tax returns.
- Prepare tax workpapers and supporting documentation.
- Review client financial information for completeness and accuracy.
- Communicate with clients to request information and answer routine tax questions.
- Research federal and state tax issues.
- Assist with tax planning and consulting projects throughout the year.
- Perform light bookkeeping duties, including maintaining client records and assisting with reconciliations as needed.
- Work directly with managers and partners on client engagements.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes through technology and automation.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards.
- Perform other accounting and tax-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field required.
- Minimum of two tax seasons of public accounting experience preparing individual and business tax returns required.
- Strong understanding of federal income tax principles.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Commitment to providing exceptional client service.
- Experience with Lacerte Tax software is a plus.
- Experience with QuickBooks Online, SafeSend, SurePrep, Karbon, or other cloud-based accounting software is a plus.
